BIOGRAPHY Magdalena Firlag (born 1984 in Poland) is an polish artist. She lives and works between Warsaw, New York and Mexico City. In 2013 she studied at School of MAGDALENA Visual Art, New York City, Reconfguring Site-Residency Program. In 2011 she studied: Lacquer painting course at master Xuan Chieu’s private studio during FIRLAG fve month staying in Vietnam. In 2008 she got Master’s thesis (Diploma with Honors) on Painting Faculty. Supplementary Specializations: wall painting, visual structures at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. www.magdalenafrlag.blogspot.com.es ARTIST STATEMENT Tis work refers to the series of paintings and installation that I made few years title: ago. Afer graduation of Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw I was looking for a A MALTESE PERSPECTIVE dynamic, simple sign, that would give opportunity to show movement. I realized that this ellipse, kind of almond or insect like dot, have very symbolic meaning at the same time. Like every seed it’s concentration of energy; bears new life. technique: Tis shape is not as perfect as circle, it’s something more. Te way I’m painting and composing the space on canvas is similar to leaving fnger prints. And it’s ACRYLIC PAINT AND HAND spontaneous time registration. MADE MODULES ON CANVAS FAI INSPIRATION Inspired in the typical dress, which in spite of being very ornamented and noble, the basic garment in the Hajdawery is very comfortable and not very ornamental.
