KONECTA FUNDATION Te initiative which the Fashion Art Institute has been developing for some time, under the leadership of Manu Fernández, means a great opportunity for Konecta to achieve, through the same project, diferent objectives which are found in the base of our philosophy as a company. Our company is geared towards social and work integration of groups in risk of exclusion, and at the same time is interested in the development of culture and art as a means of expression for our society. Tis project includes both objectives, because Fashion Art is much more than an artistic exhibition, much more than the work of a series of creators who get together to express their art through works that take on life and movement. Together with this magnifcent collection of designed and decorated outfts, there is a whole lot of work developed with diferent social groups, who though diferent workshops set forth their creativity and have the possibility of making their own works of art, to feel proud of them, and to present them to the public, so that in this way they take one more step towards the social integration everyone wants. Konecta’s objective through its Foundation, is to contribute daily so that more people have access to the labour market, integrating them with all the guarantees ofered by our society, and helping them to overcome physical or social barriers that prevent access. We believe that the best social work a company can develop is creating and maintaining jobs, and in our case, to this responsibility we add our concern for those who have more difculties to access the labour market. With Fashion Art we materialize our aspiration and responsibility towards society, because this is a project that is committed to integration, culture and art, and gives us the opportunity to bring people with special difculties closer to the artistic world, encouraging their creativity and their search for their own abilities. Together with all of the above, it is a privilege to be able to participate, under the guidance of Manuel Fernández, in the creation of works by well-known artists in the framework of the European Union, who at the same time have been preceded by other international referents in the world of art, such as Canogar, Chillida, Cárdenas, Manolo Valdés, and others. Besides, Konecta and Fashion Art share the international and multicultural character that enhances and consolidates our organization, both growing as we travel through new cities, new countries and new projects. Te result is this extraordinary and original sample of works of art, which will grow each day in diversity and originality. We cannot fail to mention the magnifcent setting that welcomes us and the city where we are. Brussels, as capital of the European Union and exceptional hostess, is linked to art from immemorial times, and is assigned among other things, to catalyse the artistic potential of each of the 28 countries which form the Community, acting as dynamic binding of the collective identity code. Lastly, we want to thank all the artists which have collaborated in this project for their contribution, especially to those who have joined us from the 28 countries which constitute this new edition. And of course, to all the social entities who joined this project through the Fashion Art/Konecta workshops, which give them their true social dimension.
