BIOGRAPHY Stjepan Sandrk (born in 1984 in Osijek, Croatia) is Graduated of the Academy of Fine arts, Zagreb in 2006. He lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia. He has exposed STJEPAN in diferent croatian individual and collective art exhibitions. He has won diferent art prizes under which the Academy of Fine Arts prize Zagreb 2006. SANDRK ssandrk.tumblr.com ARTIST STATEMENT It took a while until I decided on a concept that would produce a fnal painted dress for this Fashion Art Institute project. Because of the international character of the exhibition it was important not only to exhibit something that would relate to the work I usually do, but to do something that would be related to Croatia as well. title: Since it would be inappropriate to insist on some kind of visual narrative, which would also collide with the fnal appearance of the dress (and one who wears BLUE DRESS it), I decided for a minimalistic approach. Te result is a blue monochrome. I associate this specifc kind of blue with the transparency of Adriatic Sea, and this association is the reason I chose to use acrylics in a way that resembles technique: watercolour.
