BIOGRAPHY Pasta Oner, whose real name is Zdeněk Řanda, was born in 1979 in Trenčín, in Slovakia (then Czechoslovakia). He created his frst grafti piece in 1993, and in PASTA 2001 was the frst person in the Czech Republic to introduce street art, posters and stickers. A year later he set up a silk-screen printing shop – a technique he ONER uses in some of his work. He contributed to the books In Grafti We Trust and Street Art Praha. Oner represented the Czech Republic at the World Expo in Shanghai in 2011 and took part in the Czech Open 2012 cultural season held in London to coincide with the Olympic Games. In 2013 he presented the third- best-selling solo exhibition in Prague. His current focus is on acrylic painting on canvas and the creation of objects, and he occasionally paints larger-scale street murals. www.pastaoner.cz ARTIST STATEMENT title: PILLS LOVE Pills are an archetype of addiction and of fashion. In my works I ofen use pills for their prettiness. Tey are magical, beautiful, dangerous objects. technique: FAI INSPIRATION ACRYLIC ON CANVAS Inspired by the folk costumes worn for traditional festivities, open-air dances and carnivals, especially in the eastern part of the country, Moravia, and specifcally by the scarves worn over sof bonnets in the Blata region.
