BIOGRAPHY Naja Conrad (born in Copenhagen, Denmark) graduated from Danmarks Design School, Te Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen 2003. With a MA in Visual NAJA Communication and a background in fne art, she started her profession as a designer and artist in 2003. CONRAD Her practice embraces illustration, painting, graphic/print design and art direction. She has been nominated and selected for “200 Best Illustrators Worldwide” by Lürzer’s archive 4 times in a row, the latest being “200 Best Illustrators Worldwide” 2014/2015. Her illustrated works are featured in over 30 books on illustration and art, among them her own awarded children book. She has worked with a wide range of clients ranging from: Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Target, Aalborg Akvavit, Elle, Hallhuber, Bestseller, Leagas Delaney, Publicis, Oglivy, Kellog´s special K, Max Mara, Fiorucci, Hugo Boss Black, Visa Japan. When not collaborating with clients, she is painting with oils on linen and canvas, also title: creating ink work on handmade paper. She also exhibits her personal work. WITH LOVE www.meannorth.com technique: ARTIST STATEMENT TEXTILE COLOR, HAND PAINTED Contrast is the main inspiration source for the design I ended up with. Inspired of the northern lightness and darkness that exist in the climate and therefore refects in transferred meanings in the temperament of the northern soul. Black/white, cold/warm, sharp/sof, round/slender, light/dark, brave/timid, mysterious/ exposed, insensitive/passionate superstitious/independent, masculine/feminine, strong/ fragile, intelligent/ senseless, tough/ pleasant, etc. Te archetype wearing the piece should approximately feel like a star in the dark among the fashing and get the sensation of: love, music, fashion and dream. FAI INSPIRATION Inspired in the warm garments which became popular in the XIX Century, which were born by the richest classes.
